President Torrent presents sustainable Tourism managments' solutions at the Mediterrània Xàbia Forum

Mr Patrick Torrent, NECSTouR President, Region of Catalonia, intervened at the Mediterrània Xàbia Forum, during the first round table, focused on the challenge of the sustainable management of the tourism destinations.
The event has been organised on the 26th and 27th of October in the city of Xàbia (Region of Valencia).

"Tourism and innovation - he said have to go hand in hand: they must walk together".
According to the experience of the NECSTouR Regions, investments in Research and Innovation have been identified indeed as one of the main elements to ensure a proper sustainable Tourism management in the future of Europe.

Other priorities which have been presented during this highly appreciated intervention are the development of public/private partnerships, the development of entrepreneurial and professional Tourism skills, a proper set of indicators in order to guide a proper decision-making process and the importance of sharing of benefits among tourists and citizens.

That are the points that NECSTouR is mainly developing in the daily Tourism management of the Mediterranean destinations.

A specific project developed with some of its member Regions - MITOMED+ - is capitalising this lesson, enhancing the development of new sustainable policies for a more efficient valorisation of natural resources and cultural heritage in coastal and adjacent maritime areas of a sustainable and responsible coastal and maritime tourism in the MED Area.
