    Lee has worked in tourism for twelve years and currently manages VisitScotland’s engagement with other national and regional tourism organisations around the globe. This involves best practice exchange, which enhances how VisitScotland and its partners approach the shared challenges and opportunities involved in developing a smarter, more sustainable tourism destination. Working across a range of tourism topics, Lee’s role sits within the Industry & Destination Development directorate, which ensures that tourism is seen as an important and valuable industry for Scotland. It does this through influencing a range of partners and stakeholders across the public and private sectors. Lee leads on VisiScotland’s engagement with bodies such as the UNWTO and the European Commission. He has also been heavily involved in VisitScotland’s work to explore the potential of social tourism: he is Project Manager of the ScotSpirit Breaks, a national partnership between VisitScotland, the tourism industry and the charity sector that enables low income families in Scotland to experience the magic of a short break in their own country - in just three years it has gained the support of 100 tourism partners and helped thousands of struggling families participate in tourism. Lee is an experienced communications professional. Previously in his career, he has managed a Consultancy services remit, with other roles in corporate affairs and government relations. Before that he worked at the political and economic desk of the Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh, following a year living and working in rural Japan. Lee is passionate about the outdoors, cultural exchange, sustainable and inclusive tourism practice.
