ISTO World Congress 2016

This Congress has been a direct continuation of the previous edition, held in São Paulo, as it has been the outcome of the decisions initiated to strengthen the Organisation to serve its members with a more dynamic vision of Social Tourism.

The conference was open to ISTO member or not, tourism stakeholder, public authority, trade union or social organisation, university, … and most of all interested in social, solidarity and responsible tourism.

The general theme and topics of the Congress have been prepared around the concept of inclusion.

Last Tuesday 12th of July 2016, NECSTouR intervened at the last Meeting of the EP's Committee on Transport and Tourism, focused on an exchange of views about accessing the EU Funding for Investment in Tourism. Ms. Cristina Nuñez - NECSTouR's Coordinator - delivered a well appreciated presentation entitled: "Funding from the Perspective of Regions: Lessons Learned".

The Executive Committee of NECSTouR met at the Lazio's Delegation in Brussels in order to ultimate the NECSTouR's Strategy for the next three years and to prepare the next Annual General Meeting. Lee McRonald from Visit Scotland was present as well, in order to suppoirt the organisation of this large event, which will be held at Scotland Europa in Brussels, form the 13rd to 14th of June.

Exchange of Views About the "Tourism for Growth & Jobs Manifesto

Cristina Nunez, Coordinator of the NECSTouR Permanent Secretariat, intervened at the last Exchange of views on "Tourism for Growth&Jobs Manifesto", organised by the Tourism Task Force of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism.

NECSTouR intervention was part of the opening remarks and aknowleged its important role into the Manifesto's Steering Committee.

For the first time ever, Europe's public and private tourism actors (including NECSTouR) have come together to call for the European Union to do more for this important industry.
