Initiative "Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism" presented at the European Tourism Day 2018

On the occasion of the European Tourism Day 2018, Ms Eija Raasakka, Project Manager at the Lapland University of Applied Sciences, has been invited - as co-leader of the initiative - to present the initiative "Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism", under the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry), by the European Commission.

NECSTouR gathered at the European Committee of the Regions the Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism partnership and some of the main Tourism stakeholders for the workshop "Investing in the European Tourism of Tomorrow" in the framework of the European Industry Day.

Showcase Conference on Tourism

 

The European Commission is organising a Showcase Conference on Tourism that will take place in Brussels on 19 March 2019.  

The aim of the event is to showcase the added-value of EU support for tourism projects under the COSME programme, to inspire more cooperation and participation from the tourism industry in the EU projects and to stimulate reflection on future EU support for tourism projects. 

Ministerial conference “Sustainable Tourism – Common Policies of EU Member States”

 

Tourism has been anncounced as a strategic priority of the Romanian Presidency of the EU.

A Tourism Working Group will be activated and a Ministerial conference “Sustainable Tourism – Common Policies of EU Member States” will take place on the 2nd of April.

Regional Cruise Dialogue for the Atlantic, the North Sea and the Arctic

 

After the previous editions in the previous years dedicated to the Mediterranean and the Baltic, this year's edition will be focused on the Atlantic, the North Sea and the Arctic and it will continue a regional approach to foster solutions for cruise tourism and to bring stakeholders closer together in a common effort for a more sustainable and competitive sector in this area.

The Region of Flanders will intervene on behalf of NECSTouR in the opening session and during th epanel debate.

The event is organised by the European Commission.

Tourism Task Force - Exchange of view with the Secretary-General of UNWTO

 

On the occasion of the next Tourism Task Force meeting, TRAN Members will analyse the tourism sector’s key results and trends in the EU in 2017, and look at its main future challenges. Members will exchange views with the newly elected Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, and review the broader global picture. Eurostat will present its latest statistical data on tourism, and the Commission will present its future plans for the sector.

Kick-Off meeting of the 16th European Week of Regions and Cities

 

The Kick-Off meeting of the 16th European Week of Regions and Cities will be organised on Thursday 25 January at 11 o'clock, to be followed by a reception, at the European Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 101, Brussels.

Registration to attend the Kick-off Meeting is open until 15 January, 12.00.
