Flash Eurobarometer: The use of the collaborative economy

Survey requested by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and co-ordinated by the Directorate-General for Communication.

Key Findings:

1. Nearly a quarter of Europeans have used services offered via collaborative platforms, mostly in the accommodation and transport sectors

2. Very few Europeans have offered services via collaborative platforms and almost on fifth of Europeans who have not yet provided services via collaborative platforms would consider doing so

Exploratory Study of consumer issues in peer-to-peer platform markets

The European Commission (DG Justice and Consumers) has published a study on five peer-to-peer platform markets, identifying the main issues for peer consumers and providers from the consumer perspective.

NECSTouR has been actively involved in the drafting of that report. It is indeed among the stakeholders who contributed with views and opinions during the study process.



A European framework for regulatory responses to the collaborative economy


The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is drafting an opinion on "a European framework for regulatory responses to the collaborative economy" for which the rapporteur is Mr Peter Florianschütz (AT/PES), Member of the Vienna State Parliament and Member of the City Council of Vienna.

On the 14th of September 2017, NECStouR has been invited to intervene at the General Assembly of the Holiday Home Association (EHHA).

Our co-leader of the Working Group on Digital Platforms presente the activities of NECSTouR in the field of Short-term rental associations and our vision on the collaborative economy, during the panel focused on the "Short term rental in regions".

She was also part of the jury which selected the EHHA's Awards for this 2017, assigned at the following Gala Dinner.

NECSTouR comments on the initiative by the European Commission on the “short - term accommodation rental service”


NECSTouR attended all the workshop on on the “short - term accommodation rental service”  organised this year by the European Commission and the interested members had the opportunity to met with the responsible duputy head of Unit of that initiative on the last 26th of September.

In the last weeks, NECSTouR permanent secretariat gathered all your inputs on that topic in a document wich has been send to the European Commission and will represent our comments on the proposal that will be furtherly discussed in the next months.
