ETC/UNWTO publication "Exploring Health Tourism"

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), together with the European Travel Commission (ETC) launched a new report on health tourism. Part of their joint research programme, the study is the first attempt to set a coherent conceptualization of health tourism and define the motivations behind travellers looking for health-related services.

In the frame of the negotiations for the new Multi-Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027, an opinion of the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) for the Committee on Regional Development has been released about the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Regional Development Fund and on the Cohesion Fund (COM(2018)0372–C8-0227/2018–2018/0197(COD))

 

Several amendments on Tourism have been proposed.

Survey requested by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and co-ordinated by the Directorate-General for Communication.

Key Findings:

1. Nearly a quarter of Europeans have used services offered via collaborative platforms, mostly in the accommodation and transport sectors

2. Very few Europeans have offered services via collaborative platforms and almost on fifth of Europeans who have not yet provided services via collaborative platforms would consider doing so
