Aim:

Protecting and promoting Mediterranean natural and cultural resources

Programme specific objective: To enhance sustainable development policies for more efficient valorisation of natural resources and cultural heritage in coastal and adjacent maritime areas of a sustainable and responsible coastal and maritime tourism in the MED Area.

Towards a circular economy and sustainable tourism on islands

 

The Mediterranean region is the world's leading tourist destination. In the summer season, due to the annual tourist wave, mediterranean islands host a far greater population. This is beneficial for the local economies, but it also puts a huge burden on the local infrastructures, especially for waste management systems.

European Maritime Day 2018

 

The European Maritime Day 2018 will be held on 31st of May and 1st of June 2018 in Burgas at the Black Sea.

Sixth Partners' Meeting on MITOMED+ Project

 

The next MITOMED+ meeting will be hosted by the Tuscany Region on the 18th of January 2018.

Mr. Tomaso Comazzi will represent NECSTouR at this event.

 

Workshop: "Building Sustainable Coastal and Maritime Tourism Policies for Med Destinations"

 

NECSTouR is pleased to invite you to save the date for the event "Building Sustainable Coastal and Maritime Tourism Policies for Med Destinations".

The workshop is aimed to learning how to measure sustainability in Coastal and Maritime Tourism Destinations and to build an European Roadmap for Sustainable Coastal and Maritime Tourism Policy-making.

Indicators Work Programme 2018

Dear NECSTouR Indicators Working group,

We are pleased to share the work programme we propose for this year, as a result of our discussion we had during the last working group meeting held at the end of 2017.

This ambitious programme is only feasible thanks to your participation. Therefore we encourage you to participate in our joint actions and are at your disposal to listen to your suggestions and contributions.

NECSTouR and UNWTO meeting to identify synergies for 2018

 

In the framework of the International tourism fair, FITUR, in Madrid, NECSTouR and UNWTO meet in order to share priorities for 2018 and find possible means for cooperation

The following topics has been discussed, as the 2018 NECSTouR Key Priorities and Synergies with UNWTO:

1. Contribute to the European Year Cultural Heritage

2. Pilot the European Platform “Safety and Digitalisation for Tourism”

Third Project Meeting of MITOMED+ in Florence: Informed Decision Making in Sustainable Development of Tourism

The third project meeting of MITOMED+ Project has been held in Florence (IT), on the 18th of January 2018.

The event has been attended by NECSTouR Permanent Secretariat and representatives from the other Members involved in this project – Tuscany Region, Andalusia, Porec’s Institute of Agriculture and Tourism and the Univesity of Girona.

NECSTouR at the Global INSTO Meeting 2017

The last intervention of this year 2017 of NECSTouR has been at the Global INSTO Meeting 2017, on the 14th of December 2017 in Madrid.

NECSTouR Working Group Leader on Indicators presented how Sustainable Tourism Indicators can help policy makers on the better management of Mediterranean Destinations.

The MITOMED+ Project has been presented as a particular good case in this sense.
