The initiative "Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism" is one of the 11 thematic Areas of the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry), by the European Commission.

On the occasion of the European Tourism Forum 2018, Mr Boštjan BRUMEN, Head of Internationalisation at the Slovenian Chamber of Tourism and Hospitality has been invited to intervene on "Strategic planning for sustainable tourism development".
Representatives of NECSTouR attended the German Bundestag Reception on the 27th of August in Brussels. The event has been hosted by Mr. Volker Timmermann, Chargé d’affairs of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Belgium
The aim of the event was to discuss about the main tourism priorities for the German Bunderstagand namely Visa, Transport and Internal Market.
NECSTouR has been represented by the Region of Andalusia at the 2nd UNWTO World Conference on Smart Destinations which has been organised in Oviedo form the 25 to the 27 June 2018.
The President of NECSTouR has been invited to present the contribution of NECSTouR Regions to Tourism and Innovation, on the occasion of the second edition of the high-level debate on "Connecting Europe Through Innovation", which has been organised at the Romanian Parliament on the 17th of May 2018.
The Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism partnership organised a half- day event with European and regional stakeholders / opinion leaders to further elaborate on the investment projects and their international dimension for the two strategic thematic areas: Access to data and digitalisation; Building resilience (climate change, green mobility, accessibility and connectivity).
