NECSTouR celebrated its Annual General Meeting 2021, hosted by the Tirol Region from 21 to 24 September in Alpbach.

39 official tourism organisations from across Europe met to agree the way ahead for a more responsible approach to tourism.

During the annual meeting – the first to be held in a hybrid format since the pandemic – members elected a new Executive Committee to strategically guide the work of the network over the next three years.

On Tuesday 21 September 2021, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform hosted an on-line thematic workshop on competitive and sustainable tourism. The main take-away was the keynote from the European Commission on Transition Pathway, their solution to support a more resilient, sustainable, and digital Tourism ecosystem.

NECSTouR organised a workshop on June 3rd during the last EU Green Week in the framework of the Interreg MED Sustainable Tourism horizontal project. Partners and experts from the Interreg MED thematic community shared outputs and policy recommendations.

Call for tourism SMEs to receive support to improve their environmental performance

The COSME project TouriSME, launched a Europe-wide call for SMEs in the field of tourism to receive tailored capacity building, matchmaking, mentoring and financial support to improve their environmental performance. The call, which is open from 22 June 2021 to 15 September 2021, is open to Small and Medium Enterprises located in France, Italy, Spain or Cyprus.

NECSTouR shares its data strategy during HERIT-DATA mid-term conference

On the 9th and 10th June, the Interreg MED HERIT-DATA project held its Mid-Term Conference. We were there to share our data strategy as the Horizontal Angel for HERIT-DATA, in charge of monitoring advancements from the project to rest of the partnership of the Sustainable Tourism community of the Interreg MED Programme.

NECSTouR brought strategies on Sustainable Riverside Tourism to Interreg Europe Workshop

On Thursday 27 May 2021, the Policy Learning Platform of the Interreg Europe program hosted an online thematic workshop on the topic of "Living rivers, a driver of sustainable regional development". As member of the Star Cities project, NECSTouR was invited to present "strategies to make sustainable riverside tourism a staple in every region".

Travel and Tourism stakeholders call for swift adoption and implementation of harmonised EU travel rules

Ahead of the EU Ambassadors’ meeting on 11 June, NECSTouR and other European travel and tourism industry associations call on Member States to approve the Commission’s proposal to start lifting travel restrictions in the EU in a coordinated way(1).
