Minister Weyts promotes Flanders’ food in San Sebastian

 

On 2 and 3 May, Minister for Tourism Ben Weyts visited the 5th UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in San Sebastián, Basque Country. During this edition, Flanders and the city of Bruges have officially been presented as host for the 6th edition of the congress in 2020.

NECSTouR Joins ETOA's Strategic Partner Meeting to Foster Sustainability in Tourism

 

Last 7th of May, NECSTouR has been invited as a Strategic Partner by the European Tourism Association (ETOA) to brainstorm and plan future actions to optimise the European collective resources and skills in order to lead debate and take practical action in the long-term interests of destinations, tourism and the visitor economy.

NECSTouR and NIT advised on Tourism and Sustainable Mobility the CIVITAS Destinations' Partners

Mrs Sandra de Puig as NECSTouR coordinator and Mr Ulf Sonntag as Head of Market Research at the Institute for Tourism Research in Northern Europe of Kiel (NIT-Kiel) presented in Elba Island their recommendations on tourism and sustainable mobility to the destinations managers partners of the CIVITAS DESTINATIONS Project.

NECSTouR Regional Cases for Data Measurement presented in Berlin

 

NECSTouR Project Officer, Mrs. Marta Domper, presented the NECSTouR experience on data measurement to better manage destinations at the International Conference "Measuring Sustainability in Tourism – Opportunities and Limitations".

 

The two initiatives presented are implemented in the framework of the NECSTouR Working Group on Indicators:

L'Ile-de-France lance son parcours de la gastronomie

 

Un "parcours de la gastronomie en Ile-de-France", destiné à mettre en valeur les produits culinaires régionaux, a été lancé officiellement mercredi par la présidente de la Région, Valérie Pécresse.

Ce parcours doit "être une vitrine internationale du patrimoine culinaire", "permettre aux touristes de découvrir la gastronomie francilienne", et "renforcer l'attractivité de la région", a expliqué la conseillère régionale et chef cuisinière Babette de Rozières, qui porte le projet depuis plus de trois ans.

NECSTouR Contributes to the MED Policy Recommendations on Sustainable Tourism

As part of the MITOMED+ Project, NECSTouR Secretariat and some of its members (Andalusia, Insittute of Agriculte and Tourism in Porec and CNR-IBIMET) attended the Workshop of the MED Sustainability Community "Towards Policy Recommendations on Sustainable Tourism: Shaping the Results of the MED Community".

NECSTouR Working Group Leader on Cultural Tourism - Mr José Luis Maestro, Galicia Region - presented the Barcelona Declaration "Better Places to Live, Better Places to Visit", as a good example on how to balance Tourism and Cultural Heritage preservation.

NECSTouR Vice-President, Mr Jan Korthoudt Flanders Region, presented the view of NECSTouR Member Regions on legislative challenges and opportunities linked with the Short-term rental and the Single Market, during a Lunch Debate organised by the European Holiday Home Association (EHHA) at the European Parliament.

 

Smart Specialisation Platform on Tourism Presented to Innovation Stakeholders from the South-Muntenia Region

 

On behalf of NECSTouR, Mrs Marina Delgado - Andalusia Region, Vice-Presidency of NECSTouR - has been invited by the European Commission to present to the Innovation Stakeholders from the South-Muntenia Region the role of NECSTouR in the European tourism policy and its initiative on Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism within the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation.
