NECSTouR Contribution to the Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Development

 

The NECSTouR Leader on Cultural Tourism, Mr José Luis Maestro, represented the network at the 7th Cultural Routes Advisory Forum, Celebrating in Lucca (Italy) from the 27th to the 29th of September the 30 year of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Mr Maestro intervened about the future of the cultural routes from the perspective of the regions. He focused in particular on the necessiity of an organization like Necstour and what its working group on Cultural Tourism is doing in the perspective of the next 2018 Europena Year on Cultural Heritage.

He expressed the importance of the regions in the European tourism policy, in a strategic cooperation with the European Intitute on Cultural Routes (EICR) and he presented the Spirit Youth Project of NECSTouR as a concrete example of cultural promotion and tourism cooperation at Regional Level.

In the forum were many experts in the different panels and attending many professionals sharing the state of the art in the different routes.
Tuscany region and the National Research Council in Florence (CNR-IBIMET) - both members of Necstour - were in the forum as well.
