Intelligent Energy - Europe
The IEE programme is giving a boost to clean and sustainable solutions. It supports their use and dissemination and the Europe-wide exchange of related knowledge and know-how. Targeted funding is provided for creative projects putting this idea into practice. The projects help to further the three main objectives:
1. Promoting energy efficiency and encouraging the rational use of energy sources;
2. Increasing the use of new and renewable energy sources as well as encouraging energy diversification;
3. Stimulating energy efficiency and renewables in the field of transport.

EDEN - Accessible Tourism
The objective of the present call for proposals is to support eligible countries' National Administrations in charge of tourism, or other eligible public bodies for the purpose of the selection of one EDEN destination of excellence.
Theme: This year's theme is "Accessible tourism". It is proposed to reward those destinations which have developed a tourism offer based on an overall approach to accessibility for tourists regardless of their physical limitations, disabilities or age.

ENPI Kolarctic
The Kolarctic ENPI Cross-Border Programme has launched its fourth call for proposals worth a total of €8.45 million and covering regions of northwest Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
The Programme Kolarctic ENPI CBC is one of the ENPI financing instruments of the European Union. The ENPI programmes are being implemented on the external borders of the EU.
Kolarctic ENPI CBC works by granting financing to projects. A minimum requirement is that there is one participant from the Russian programme area and one participant from the Finnish or Swedish programme area. (In some cases one Russian and one Norwegian partner is enough.)
All the projects financed from the programme must end by 31 December 2014 at the latest. The budget available under this call for proposals stands at €8.45 million. The deadline for applications is 16 April, 2012.

ENPI Cross-Border Cooperation in the Mediterranean
The multilateral cross-border cooperation "Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme" is part of the new European Neighbourhood Policy and of its financing instrument (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument - ENPI) for the period 2007-2013.
Objective: Reinforce cooperation between the European Union (EU) and partner countries regions placed along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
Participating countries: Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestinian Authority, Portugal, Spain, Syria and Tunisia.
Deadline for sending the Concept Notes is 29th February 2012.
Total Budget: € 56,5 million.

Economic Visitors Programme
Objectives for the Programme: Attract leading economists in academia, international organisations, governments and top research institutions to participate in the Economist Visitors Programme of DG Enterprise and Industry.
Foreseen Activities: Economist Visitors are invited for a short-term visit to present and discuss research work and share their knowledge in the area of microeconomics and quantitative methods, namely in the areas of industrial policy and economic reforms.
Applications:
Any interested candidate may submit an application at any time up to 3 months before the end of its period of validity.
Deadline: The list of potential economist visitors will be valid for 3 years.

The educational and training initiatives of the European Union, the Life Long learning Programme is composed of four sub-programmes: Comenius (for schools), Erasmus (for higher education), Leonardo da vinci (for vocational education and training) and Grundtvig (for adult education).

Stimulating ICT-enabled innovation in the tourism industry and the food supply-chain

This call for tenders is launched by the European Commission for the signature of two service contracts (corresponding to the following 2 lots), aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the EU tourism and agro-food sectors, by promoting the smart use of ICT among enterprises, notably SMEs, to visibly improve business transactions.
The two lots are:
Lot 1: Stimulating innovation in the tourism industry through smart use of ICT: assisting SMEs participate in digital value networks in the Single Market
Lot 2: Stimulating innovation in the food supply-chain through smart use of ICT: assisting SMEs participate in digital supply chains in the Single Market

Feasibility study on the VIRTUAL TOURISM OBSERVATORY
With respect to the action X of the EC. Communication towards a European political framework for tourism, (COM (2010) 352/final), DG Enterprise is launching a call for tender to examine the feasibility of a virtual tourism observatory.
Deadline: 26th August 2011
Total Budget: 330 000€
Overall Objective: Examining the feasibility of a virtual tourism observatory.
Specific Objectives: Elaboration of an implementation guidance to develop the observatory, the creation of an up-to-date reliable data set covering the main activities of the tourism sector, identifying the appropriate indicators, assess existing data sources, the availability and reliability of their data and propose specific actions that the observatory should undertake to cover eventual gaps. Finally, the study should evaluate the sustainability of the observatory and how it can be outsourced, after its set-up and initial management for a period of up to 3 years by the Commission.
Eligible Bodies: All natural and legal persons from one of the EU Member States and to some third country
- SMEs are particularly encouraged by the DG Enterprise and Industry to submit tenders.

CALYPSO - European Social Tourism
The second call for proposal of CALYPSO preparatory action - supporting public authorities to undertake in the trans-national low season tourism exchanges - has been launched.
Deadline: 14th June 2011
Total Budget: 150.000€ (75% Cofinancing from EU)
Objectives for the projects:
- Support Public Authorities in setting up, developing and/or strengthening CALYPSO structures in their country;
- Provide networking opportunities enhancing collaboration between public authorities with the ultimate aim of promoting low season exchanges in any one or more of the four CALYPSO target groups;
- Conduct relevant studies that could improve the knowledge base and eventually facilitate low season exchanges;
- NEW Illustrate how specific project deliverables could be linked to the use of the CALYPSO web platform, as a means to facilitate the continuation of projects beyond the co-financing period.
Target groups: Over 65 years of age or pensioners/all youths aged between 18 and 30 years/ disabled adult citizens/families facing difficult social circumstances.
Eligible Bodies:
- National Tourism Administrations (Ministry, State Secretariat) responsible for Tourism;
- National Tourism Organisations;
- Regional authorities/governments;
- Other competent public administrations;

EDEN - Enlarging and Promoting European Destination of Excellence
The 6th call for proposal of EDEN Preparatory Action differs from the precedent ones as it proposes to elaborate two types of projects:
Project A.: Elaborating and implementing a campaign to promote and raise-awareness in Europe about the winners of the EDEN prizes from 2007 to 2011.
Or
Project B: Elaborating and implementing a strategy to raise the awareness and support the countries which never took part to the selection in order to participate to the EDEN Selection of destination of Excellence.

Budget/Project: 50.000€ (75% Cofinancing from EU)

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM - Transnational cultural & sustainable Tourism
This call aims at supporting and promoting cross-border and trans-national tourism routes / itineraries / trails, either physical or virtual, with a view of being able to contribute, directly or indirectly, to a more sustainable tourism industry
Deadline: 1st July 2011
Budget/Project: 125.000 (75% Cofinanced by EU)
Objectives for the projects:
- To promote and increase visibility of different transnational tourism products - such as routes/itineraries/trails, either physical or virtual - focused on thematic aspects;
- To contribute to the promotion and development of a sustainable and responsible tourism offer;
- To facilitate the exchange of information on and coordination of such trans-national activities;
Eligible Partners (amongst others):
- Public authorities and their networks or associations at national, regional and municipal level in charge of tourism and /or regional development;
- Academic training or education establishments;

As announced during NECSTouR AGM, Midi Pyrenees Region presented on the 4th of October a Project proposal to the call launched under the calypso preparatory action: The "SOWELL" project (Social tourism Opportunities in WELlness and Leisure activities) involves the Czech University of Economics in Prag, and the Regions Midi Pyrenees, Catalunya and Emilia Romagna. - Transport and tourism: INTERREG IVC
Corresponding to the challenge for tourism of transport and mobility, Flanders Regional Government has elaborated a project idea in order to evaluate, improve and promote "car free tourism" in touristic destinations. This project would include public authorities and local stakeholders of the transport and tourism sector from different regions in order to exchange experiences and improve together the sustainable accessibility of the touristic destinations. - Landscape and Tourism: Europe for citizens
After the Conference in Västra Götaland, the two networks CIVILSCAPE and NECSTouR decided to launch a common project in order to foster a dialogue between tourists and local people (from civil society and regional/local authorities) about landscape. To this aim, the project plans to organise two workshops in two pilot destinations to bring the targeted population at the same discussion table as the local stakeholders, and produce a manual for the actors on models for social dialogue on tourism and landscape.

- Professional training: Joint Master in Sustainable and Competitive Tourism
The University of Buisness of Prag is launching a joint master programme on "Sustainable Tourism Destination Development" with NECSTouR academic members. The Joint European Master Program will be open to students from all European countries and third countries´ students in order to promote European tertiary education. Appearing from the Agenda for a Sustainable and Competitive European Tourism, the focus of the Program will be on sustainable tourism development in tourism destinations. The Program will be open also to other European Universities which will show their intent to join a network. Exchange of professors will be an inseparable part of the Program. To launch the programme, the University organises a workshop the 10-11 February in Prag.

- Researcher Mobility: Marie Curie
Following collaborations with scientific institutions working on "sustainable tourism" in Mediterranean South shore (Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Lebanon), the University of Pisa is preparing project to create a "Mediterranean mobility platform" on "sustainable tourism" to implement the researchers mobility from EU countries to MPC (Mediterranean partner countries) and vice versa. To this aim, the project will be developed underMarie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme. This programme strengthens research partnerships through short period staff exchanges and networking activities between European research organisations and research organisations from countries with which the Union has an S&T agreement or are in the process of negotiating one, and other third countries covered by the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).
