The Italian Association for Responsible Tourism (AITR) is a non-profit association that promotes the practices of responsible tourism, sustainable lifestyles and critical consumption. Established in 1998, AITR now includes over 100 organizations operating in the tourist sectors, such as cultural cooperatives, tour operators, NGOs, small local associations and publishing companies.

The Italian Association of Responsible Tourism (AITR) - an Associate Member of NECSTouR - organised in the framework of the ITACA Festival in Bologna a roundtable on the so-called "overtourism" with the title "Inhabitants VS Tourists: Responsible Tourism showing the Way".
It has been held in Reggio Emilia on November 25 at the Hall of the Servite Convent (over G. Garibaldi 44) the AITR Forum "Responsible Tourism, best practice and quality experiences in Italy".
