The most important event of recent times regarding the challenges that the Tourism Industry faces on its commitment to sustainability, will be held in Lanzarote on 19 and 20 October 2017 in the framework of the celebration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
The International Conference "Sustainability: A key factor of Competitiveness in the Tourism Industry. - #STINDUSTRY2017" is organized by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) and the Society for the Foreign Promotion of Lanzarote (SPEL). It will take place in Los Jameos del Agua in Lanzarote (Canary Islands). The event is sponsored by UNESCO, UNWTO and has the support of the Secretary of State for Tourism of Spain, and of the sector and main international organizations involved in the promotion of more sustainable tourist destinations.
The meeting aims to set a series of decisive recommendations and precise goals regarding the contribution of the Tourism Industry to the United Nations SDG, following the guidelines of the World Charter for Sustainable Tourism ST+20 adopted in 2015 in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
